Time Out...

Are you old enough to remember watching this picture in black and white while you were eating your cereal and waiting for cartoons to start? ;-)

Thanks, KC! I will be turning 40 in a few short months and this is beginning to make me feel old. Your post just relieved me for a moment because I have no idea what that picture is. This must mean I am still somewhat young.
;~)

Rose I knew this would be a blessing to someone! ;-)

It's the test pattern that local TV stations displayed about 30 minutes or so before actually coming "on the air". It's counterpart was the a flag waving in the breeze while the National Anthem played just before going "off the air" each night. For some stations that was as early as 6:00 P.M. I remember when one local station decided to stay on until midnight. People said that was ridiculous because no one in their right mind stayed up that late. ;-)

KC I missed it cause I was never a early up kind of person. BUT my brother was and I remember hearing "That's cat" the theme song and wanting to kill him!
I think in secret he must have them on DVD :)

You are loved

Mrs. Zeke that's so funny but I can't imagine you're really of an age to remember this. ;-)

I came across your blog from a comment on some other blog... Well, you know how one thing leads to another and before you knew it, there I was at yours.

I don't know how we survived childhood without a gazillion channels via cable or satelite.

Oh wait! Now I remember. We played games at the dining room table after supper. Yeah. That's right. That's what we did. I think we also read books if you can believe it.

Thanks for helping me remember times gone by.

It's a treat for me too Kevin. When I first saw this posted at Ramble On I went straight in to a nostaglic daze.

I appreciate the visit and your thoughts and I've book marked your place. I'm looking forward to reading your work there. ;-)

I also remember being allowed to eat Sunday supper (leftover oven-fried chicken, potato chips, and jello with marshmallows on top)in front of the TV, while watching The Wonderful World of Disney.
...and I remember Sky King, and Lassie, and The Mickey Mouse Club, the Rifleman, etc. etc.

Wow Karen you're turning up the fire. Disney was family hour at the TV but we were eating "southern" fried chicken of course (hehe). Bless you sis. ;-)

I have no idea what you're talking about. I've never seen that before.

Ok....yes, I'm old enough.

And we never got to watch Wonderful World of Disney. We had church on Sunday night. But I'm feeling much better now.

KC,
Yes, remember it vividly... (turning 45 tomorrow!). And the greatest frustration was turning it on, and waiting for those cartoons to come on to be interupted by... a space launch! O the agony of watching Apollo whatever sit there for three hours all for 35 seconds of intense drama. :)
Blessings,
Timothy

Pastor Happy Birthday! I hope you have a wonderful time.

I always get a kick out of telling the "young'uns" about the first space launch, the bay of pigs and what the cold war was like "back in the day". Thank God for His mercy!

The earliest TV memory I have was at age 5 ('79) getting up at 5:30 on Saturday to watch the Lone Ranger and Tonto, and the National Anthem would play before the show came on... I think. It may be a "fuzzy memory"!

But I think our set was black and white, too.

Kitty I suppose young is a somewhat relative term but yes, compared to me you are young. ;-)

HB just as with Kitty, Kristi, Adam, Corry, Karen, Rose, Mrs Zeke...(you all get the point hehe)and a host of other "youngsters" here your wisdom is beyond your years. This old guy is learning much from you all. ;-)

kc!! Why? WHY, did you post this?
:)~~

I remember this very well. I remember having to go to bed because the National Anthem was playing while the Air Force Thunderbirds or the Blue Angels were flying aroung on TV just before the screen turned to snow. And like you said getting up early waiting for this sign on picture to turn to Tom & Jerry or Felix or Mighty Mouse or Bugs Bunny or______ you fill in the blank.

Wow the Blue Angels came with color so you really are a young'un eh? (grin) I confess, I loved the looney toons. I guess it shows huh? Love ya brother.
